Despite the extra weight, There are some things that I prefer not to do without. Having the use of eating utensils is one of those things. I carry the HoBo knife, made of stainless steel, and has a knife, fork, spoon, corkscrew, and awl. If I have the time and secure place to stop and cook a meal (normal ops now), then I intend to "act" civilized, and eat with proper utensils, messkit plate, a proper cup (canteen cup), and a bandanna as a napkin. This act is a treat to me, and is to be relished.
