Any church should have a preparedness plan, to make it less "survivalist" you could call it a disaster recovery plan, for businesses large to small and organizations the DR plan is something that has become a big buzzword since 9/11.
Most churches have different community outreach programs, weather it be door to door visiting, feeding the homeless, visiting members in the hospital, etc. You should have some sort of plan to continue those should something happen to the church building, flood, fire, or how to help a member family who suffers a loss due to one of those reasons. When I was with the small computer company I would steer churches toward the small business DR plans, even though the churches are not businesses their DR operation is similar to a small non profit business so most of the documents and templates apply.
