A couple of points

First, if you use vet-wrap, stretch, then apply. It's very easy to get vet wrap too tight when bandaging.

Second, licking wounds. The physical masage stimulates blood flow, promoting healing. But this is better done without licking. Remember that dogs lick themselves in places we wouldn't even if we could reach, if you get my drift. (If you're into that, maybe this is the wrong website for you, I'm sure there are some to suit your taste) To a dog, the height of civilization is sniffing each others rears to see who their friends are. So dog's mouths are pretty contaminated, with significant risk of infecting a wound. Not something I'd recommend.
