One of the first few PSKs I made had PA in a glass vial in it. Over a period of a year, I noticed some problems with corrosion on the wire saw, probably due to iodine fumes from the PA.
The PA was replaced with puritabs and everthing seemed fine.

I was just inspecting the kit again, when I decided to test the sparklite. Puff! A cloud of smoke emerged when I spun the striker and realised it was the flint in the sparklite that disintegrated. Just what a PSK needs - a dead sparklite. This is what mr murphy does to screw you even when you ARE carrying a PSK.

Lessons learnt:
Inspect and TEST everthing in your kit. Yes, even the lighters, matches and sparklight, compass and whistle. Also pens for those who include SAK pens or fisher space pens.

Has this happened to anyone else besides me ?
