I may be wrong about this(it has been a LONG time since I read her life story, but ...

After that terrible engine fire she had, she refused to ever race in a front engine dragster, and switched to rear engine dragsters only. If you think about it, you will see why... If your engine catches fire and you are going 200+ MPH, you do NOT WANT the engine in FRONT of you, with the flames engulfing you <img src="/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />... You would MUCH prefer the engine to be behind you <img src="/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
I think she may have been one of(if not the first) racers to do so.
