I know that the hot ironing will not make the freshly washed but dry bandana completely sterile, but it will kill some germs. But what it does best is make a large piece of cotton into a nice compact flat pack.

For my pocket pack, I use the small Gerber breast milk bags to carry the bandanna. It’s light, thick plastic and provides a great seal. I reinforce the edges with Gorilla Tape. Push in the hot bandanna , press a hardback book on top to push out as much air as possible and seal while hot and pressed. It gives almost a vacuum seal. I carry the gorilla tape wrapped over some clear plastic report cover, cut to size and tape that to the outside of the sealed bandanna bag. The bag and tape together also give you two good chest seal sucking chest or puncture wounds to the chest or to carry a knocked out tooth or amputated digit.
