Direct pressure (pressure dressing-ie. ace bandage) has been enough for everything I encountered including traumatic amputations. Never needed more.....that includes arterial bleeds. Doesn't mean I forget it....I've just never needed them. FWIW.


Here in OR, their use was recently covered at one of my monthly classes for my First Responder Cert. The class is delivered by a retired FD Lt. at the local Station. It's new material to the class this year.
