i have one and it gets most of it's use inside my Akto tent on cool wet nights.the folding tin one spills wax out the bottom.
i would suggest you get the hood style reflector,it comes in two flat parts that go together to make a cone shaped hood over the lamp.it really works,i have used it outside to read at night.the side reflector is small and i use it mostly to block the flame so it's not in my eyes in some situations.the price of candles may seem a bit much but on a two week trip i don't think i've ever used one all the way up.a few bucks worth of candles will last quite awhile.the bees wax in bear country is no joke.i got some for my UCO,i paddle in the BWCA well know black bear country, and while i had no problems when i got home and unpacked the tent it did have a slight honey, very slight, smell.a bear hunting book said that the old timers used them to lure bears.
by the way the Baker shelter i cook in smelled like the State Fair, hot peanut oil and sugar!
