I just HAD to chime in here. If you haven't read Pat McManus, you are truly missing out. I had loaned "A Fine and Pleasant Misery", "They Shoot Canoes, Don't They", and "Never Sniff A Gift Fish" to a friend who returned them just today ! Talk about timing. My favorite line came from the story "The Green Box" where Rancid Crabtree said "Ah ain't grinnin'. Ah thank I ruptured maw face pullin' thet dang slangshot!" (And yes, that's the way it was spelled.)
