In terms of cold weather performance, yes they would. However, at this time lithium cells this size are not readily available. There are always compromises. OTOH, with alkalines you can get days of useful light from the Pico™ Lite. With lithiums you'd get brighter light for a longer period and then they would die in a relatively few hours. Which is better? No perfect answer. We continue to work towards a lithium solution, but not today.
