I could never get away with the way I carried myself back in Eastern Washington when I was living in New Jersey. You must adapt to at least appear to fit in, which is wise no matter the ambience. Just like in boot camp, standing out in the crowd, for whatever reason, ends up making you a target for the scrutiny of those who's interest you would just as soon not prefer to hold.
