I wonder if having a concealed firearm permit allows a person any more latitude as far as knife carry goes? I guess it might depend on laws in a particular state.

As far as CA goes, I would have to say NO. In CA a ccw is a misdemeanor thingy, many of the knife laws are felonies. Go figure...

In Washington State, concealed carry refers only to firearms. There is still a limit on the length of blade you can have on your person, concealed or otherwise, except for specific instances, like out in the wilderness, or at home, or at work in specific professions.

A word of caution.
The statutes listed at the site are subject to the interpretation of the courts. As an example, in Cleveland, Ohio, carrying a folding knife with a 2-1/2 inch blade in a pants pocket has been found to be "carrying a concealed [deadly]weapon," while in Akron (an hour's drive away) a 4-inch folder was found not to be a "deadly weapon" in violation of the same law, largely because it required two hands to open it (!).
This goes on in every state. So be careful.

I looked up NM and TX. I know that, in New Mexico, the size of the blade or knife is irrelevant as long as the knife is carried in the open...unconcealed. The only restrictions are bars, courthouses, and schools, I think. In any event, even carrying a knife concealed is a misdemeanor (not that it's not serious, but at least it's not a felony).

Thanks for that link, it was interesting.

Some of the stuff they list as weapons here in the People's Republic of Massachusetts are ridiculous. Example, for knives, they have some things with 1.5 inch blades that are violations if they have a spring loaded assist. They also talk about knives that can be drawn into a locked position, would that be like a folder that locks? I mean, I can draw that from a clipped position on my jeans to a locked position in one smooth motion. I guess I'm a threat to society? Does the exposed clip make it not concealed?

Good grief...
