re: EMT shears/scissors

Does anyone have recomendations / warnings on brands, etc? I've noticed 100 lots on ebay in bright colors but no real ability to sdiscern much in the way of quality.

Thoughts on various EMT shears anyone?

Sorry, I can't help you with brands. But I have purchased several at Wallyworld type stores and hardware stores, and all work fine. They are not the brain surgery type of tool, just stamped out of sheet metal, with some really good seriations, that enable then to cut all kinds of stuff, including penny's (everyone has to try that at least once)...

Just about any pair you get from a relaiable medical supply company will work. They are cheap and durable as heck. I personally like the small size, I have a set for EDC at work, in my radio harness for SAR and in all my FAKs. I prefer the small because they fit into my pants pocket more comfortably but I do keep a large size pair in my turn-outs for use with gloves.

I've said it before, I'll say it again - medic shears are alien technology. The $4.00 shears cut a penny and then cut paper. I bought a lot of a dozen, and they have lasted me YEARS in the shop, on the job and around the house. Any brand will do, they are all made on the planet zorglfrag by the puffy, multi-tentacled frzzgr creatures and beamed here via tachyon beam to your local FAK supplier.

I had always wondered about cutting a penny, yep it's true. Took a little effort with this small pair but it did not damage the shears at all. I agree, has to be alien technology. By the way, this pair came from Walgreens
I guess you can say they work pretty well.

A while back I purchased several sets of shears from ebay. They were only about $4 each and great quality.

To see them, go to ebay and enter this item number in the search field: 140089321508

I will say this about them....keep one pair for 'just' cutting pennies if you want to do that to 'show it can be done'. After a few years of showing that it can be done, the scissor will loosen up. It still does a great job of cutting, though it will show some difficulty in cutting 'paper' or another thin flexible object. A few pennies here and there aren't a problem.....I had friends who 'just couldn't do without' the cut penny so I had cut a lot of them.....only after dozens does it become a problem.....and no I didn't cut "my" pennies....I used theirs.
