Unless it's literally the only way to get online OR unless you buy a REAL earth station - not that Directway stuff. I've used this sysem: http://www.skycasters.com/broadband-satellite-compare/compare.html with the 1.8 meter dish (HUGE). That works. The rest....well, it sort of works, pretty often.

Yeah, unfortunately my experience is limited to direcway; though maybe that's a good thing.

Out of the literally thousands of customers I've worked on with satellite there was only *1* person I can think of who I could justifiably say needed it. He was on a boat and had the dish attached to it. When he'd pull into a dock he'd retrain up to the satellite and get internet. Pretty slick. Other than that, I'd take dialup over satellite. After all, phone systems don't go out because of solar winds.

I always make assumptions, and then hope they are wrong. Everyone here does. If we didn't do that, we would think that PSKs, PMKs, and EDCed CCWs were the sign of unhealthy paranoia. :P

Hey, Doug. I just wanted to bring to your attention that it seems your internet connection poll might be the first official casualty of the forum upgrade.

If you meant to have it disappear, then there's no problem.

I don't see the poll, but I have 1.5 Mbit DSL.

I don't see the poll either. I use a broadband card so that I can connect anywhere where I have cell phone coverage. Useful since I'm on the road 5 days a week.
