I've not seen this approach to preparedness discussed here before.
Read the article , then feel free to diss this approach. It certainly expands preparedness to a group that probably aren't prepared normally.

I've seen their videos in the past. It's kinda entertaining, actually. And anything that gets people thinking of being better prepared for "whatever" is a good thing. It just so happens that having a decent bug out bag thought out ahead of time can be handy for earthquakes/weather events or for zombie attacks!

After reading the entire article I'd have to say I wish I had access to a local group like that. Humor is definately a good teaching tool, especially when trying to convince someone who might start out against you. The fact that they actually hold live practice of survival skills is a definate plus. They almost sound like a fun version of Alpha Rubicon group...

Sounds like a great idea to me. When I first decided I wanted to be equipped to survive I had just finished watching one of the Terminator movies. My original goal was to survive the nuclear apocalypse. I'm sure there are numerous other disasters which are much more likely in my area, but hey relating survival tactics to my favorite sci-fi movies makes things just that much more fun

This is insanely funny and actually quite helpful. We would tailor our message to specific age groups. Changing it to fit specific interest groups is equally valuable (assuming good content and skills instruction).

Besides, as a sci-fi geek since the 70's, I have Zombie attacks as part of my risk matrix

Hey Brian, are you part of the Zombie Squad? I saw at least three Texas markers on their member map.

-Blast, who would love to give a ZS presentation at the next safety meeting.

That site is a hoot...
Good grief, I think I want to join. It involves two of my favorite pass times; preparation and zombie flix...

And they have a link for this site in their links section. ETS is listed as "Equipted to Survive". LOL

That's my kind of survival education group.

Max Brooks' books have some vaguely educational value to them both on a Zombie-related and slightly more realistic basis.

Blast,

I'm not a member yet - but my students tend to resemble Zombies if they hadn't drank their caffine and eaten their chocolate.
