Alarm mine
A week ago the farm where I live had a clear out. Between all the rubbish I saw a “Henry Krank alarm mine”.
Which is a tripwire, when pulled a rod hits a “black powder blank”. Which after reading the safety instructions is basically a device which makes a noise when activated by the trip wire, nothing more. Are these things legal? If so does the producer still exist? Where can I get the blanks?
I put it to one side as it would have been thrown away but is it worth keeping?
Reinhardt
these alarms date back to flintlock technology when opening a window or door would produce a bang alarm. They are also used to discourage varmints. In the USA people have automatic sets that fire off blank s or crackers to scare off birds from crops. The first thing you need to do is inquire about it's legality in G.B. and requirements for possessing powder charges. It may be old enough to be a curiosity to collectors.

Not here evidently. A dip in a small city a short ways from us that owns a 4-plex was in the middle of remodeling it so he was the only one living there. Evidentally he placed a similar type of device on his property to warn off intruders by setting off a small flash/bang type of container about the size of a shotgun shell. Anyway, he was scheduled for a fire inspection and the inspector saw the device and called in the cops, whom after searching the property found his "fully converted AR-15", 2 M-16s and a full auto AK. He's sitting in jail right now awaiting trial for setting a dangerous booby trap and having possession of unregistered assault weapons that were listed as Machine guns.
