i dont know if this has been previously discussed, or an idea that has been around but, i had a wacky idea for a match.

Wrap a Strike anywhere match in cotton or tinder thats been dipped in vasoline, about 1/4 of an inch away from the actual match head. make sure its nice and tight to conserve space. when your going to strike the match, fray the cotton so it will burn easier. light the match and allow it to catch, then hold the match upside down to allow the tinder to lite. makes the match last alot longer... depending on how much tinder and vasoline. i havent even tried it yet : ]

Hey Rhawn! Nice to see you posting again. I created such a super match in my youth. Remember the scene in YOUNG FRANKENSTIEN ( thats Schteeen) when Gene Hackman sets the monster's thumb on fire?LOL Keep brainstorming, Edison's first lamps wouldn't work at first ( he finally figured out the threads were left handed for a right handed base)

Another great idea which works great is to wrap some Magnesium ribbon just above the striking part of the match.....boy does it burn!!!!! Just be very careful of the amount used.

How about removing the wax from one of those trick birthday candles then wrapping the wick around a match? You could dip it in some melted wax to make it even better.

Another possiblity is using a fuse from some fireworks. The bigger fuses even burn underwater, so I'd think they'd burn in the rain.

-Blast

Magnesium Ribbon is almolst like the cable ties you get for plastic bags, in other words, that's what it looks like. It is literally thin ribbon which is Magnesium. It is about 5mm wide, very thin, so it wraps around anything and comes in strips or small rolls. Just be very careful.
