Does anybody really understand this list?

0 new member
25 newbie
50 journeyman
100 dedicated member
200 enthusiast
300 needs a life

For the record I was classed as a "newbie" for a while but then became a "newbie member" which isn't even listed here. I checked another poster with the same number of posts and he is registered as a "newbie".

I've also seen another poster with well over a hundred posters and he was still showing up as a "newbie member" This system should either be revised or deleted as it really doesn't add anything of value. I've been reading this board for several years and to be classed as a "newbie" is almost insulting just because I don't post a lot...

What say the masses? <img src="/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

The titles mean utterly nothing, at least not in the real world or this kaliedoscope called the internet. ETS is hosted free. That translates to a friend and supporter trying to make a living and graciously keeping Doug's valuable effort going. Our program is old, sometimes grumpy and has this capricious title feature that makes as much sense as military and job promotions. EVERYBODY is valued in our community, from the first time poster to long established members. Just remember The Wizard of Oz. The Scarecrow was smart, Lion brave and Tinman loving. They didn't need validation from some guy behind a curtain.

So these "titles" are just arcane left overs from the software you are using? How quaint.

But still as a curiosity - what is the difference between a "newbie" and a "newbie member" which isn't even listed in the table above?

I think Chris' point, not to put words in his mouth, is "what does it really matter?"

If you don't appreciate quaint, just participate in some of the other survival(ist) websites. They have a veritable BOB of names; PHRASECENSOREDPOSTERSHOULDKNOWBETTER., lib, treehugger,Brownies etc etc etc. If it's really an issue, donations are still accepted.

You know, prior to this post I hadn't even noticed that I had a "title." Now that I do, and considering that I have been a member for about five years, I kinda feel like a FNG. But better that than a commieliberaltreehuggingBrownie...

Yeah, I was kinda wondering how I got to be an "enthusiast" with less than half the posts of that "newbie member", OldBaldGuy.

Survival people hostile to Tom Brown refer to his people as Brownies.
