Thought I'd share some recent photos of my PSK. In the 1930s, the Mountaineers, a Seattle-based hiking, climbing, and conservation organization, came up with a list of 10 essential items that no climber should be without. These original Ten-Essentials server as the guide for what I have included in my kit. If I added a small local map, I would be covering seven of the recommended ten.

ORIGINAL TEN-ESSENTIALS
1. Map
2. Compass
3. Light
4. Extra Food
5. Water and a Way to Purify it
6. Rain Gear and Extra Clothing
7. First Aid Kit
8. Pocket Knife
9. Matches and Fire Starter
10. Sun Screen and Sunglasses

WILD-WEASEL,

As usual: a great kit!

I believe the multi-tool is a Leatherman Micra.

I don't see a HD sewing needle. It's in there right?

I also use a BCB-tin for my PSK:

1 BCB tobacco-tin (with 2 elastic bands on it)
1 40x40cm piece of HD aluminium foil
2 Alcohol prep-pad's
1 STOP-banner (ETS edition)
1 1l ziplock
1 5 Euro bill
1 Mayday signal mirror (glass)
10 Micropur water purification tablets
1 button compass
2m brass wire
1 Photon II LED microlight
1 Whistle
4 Coghlan's Emergency Tinder
7 Wind/Waterproof matches
1 small magnifying glass
1 flexible wire saw
1 birthday candle
1 paper-clip
6 safety-pins
2 pieces waterproof note-paper
2 scalpel blades #24
1 p-38 can opener
1 fire-steel
2 HD sewing needles with 2 meters of thread wrapped around it
1 small pen
3 meters of waxed dental floss
10 meters of fishing line
1 fishing kit
4 twist-ties (under waterproof note-paper)
1 small locking knife
1 piece of hacksaw blade
3 meters of cord (yellow)
2 energy tablets (white things under the fishing kit)
1 meter of Duct-tape
60cm of black electricians tape (used to seal the tin)

BTW: This is NOT a thread-hijack!
