Just when you think you have seen it all, something new comes along. This past weekend I went to a favorite fishing spot and I saw the most interesting thing. A young Inuit kid was there with a standard issue brass snare wire and he was snaring Arctic Char with a snare. This works well for any fish that goes fresh water to salt. Put the wire between rocks that the fish must pass through- make the loop big enough to accomodate the largest fish you might see- wait until the fish enters the loop pass its gills. Yank really hard. The kid had like 15 fish before I even had a line in the water.

Mariner
