For the literature crowd, The Road, by Cormac McCarthy, was released last month. McCarthy's writing style is a terse, almost Faulkner-esque, narrative. Some have considered him one of the most important novelists of our time.
I read the book in one sitting. Not to give anything away, but the story deals with a father and son's journey through a post-apocalyptic America.
This is not your usual TEOTWAWKI shoot 'em up; you will not find any instructions on survival techniques, or dissertations on the cyclical rates of automatic weapons tricked out as prose. Just a good old fashioned yarn.
Let me know what you think if you pick it up.
