Okay, hopefully y'all remember my post a few weeks back when I told about ordering this saw after watching a commercial for it. Someone said it was a carbide edged recip saw blade with a handle. Now that I got mine here finally, I will confirm that it is just a saw blade with a handle, but it is also effective. It is not rinky dink. While the blade isn't all too spectacular, given that it is indeed edged with carbide, the handle is what makes the deal. It is stout, ergonomic, and looks and feels quite durable. For the money I spent, I am satisfied. It was easy to cut through stones I could hold in one hand, although it isn't what you'd call fast. I'd estimate my cutting rate through stone and masonry of that size (4 to 8 oz) at about 1/4 to 1/2 an inch per minute. Cutting through steel pipe was a little slower. This blade will cut through any construction material natural or manmade, just not very quickly. It is relatively safe, in that the edge is not toothed and sharp, but abrasive. The blade is only 5 inches long, so it has limits as to what you can take on size-wise. Did I mention that the blade comes with a lifetime warranty against damage or breaking, assuming the company that sold it to me remains in business. Fortunately, the address they give for sending it in is just up the road from where I work.

It is too big to edc, but it will go in my bob along with all the other heavier survival tools. I think it is a fine addtion.

Did you try it on wood? I know, carbide isn't really recommended for wood, but someone had to ask the question half of us are wondering.

yup, it cuts wood too, but not very fast. I cut a 7/16 nut in half in a little over90 seconds of moderate effort. Not bad.

Nope, not bad for a "universal" blade that is safe enough for my kid to use assuming he doesn't go to work on his leg or something...

Thanks for the followup, I was waiting to see how your results turned out and have since seen a few late night commercials on this. I'll probably wait for it to show up at Target in the "As Seen on TV" endcap.
