Wow, lot of new folks in the past 72 hours.

I want to say welcome aboard, ask questions, answer them when you can. I might be sticking my foot in my mouth, but remember, we do survival here. And that is why my first question about gear is "Does it come in yellow?"

Agreed on the second question, but why does everyone keep picking bright yellow for high visibility for outdoor gear?!?! Bright yellow disappears against sand or (especially) dry grass. High-vis orange doesn't blend in with *anything*.

And for that very reason, the backpack I chose for my BOB was the nastiest, ugliest, LOUDEST shade of flourescent orange I could find. Now I just need a jacket and boots to match . . . <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

And orange doesn't rhyme with anything either.

I actually am trying to learn both because to me they are one & the same. If the helicopter is coming to help you then know how to get it's attention. If it's coming to take you in then know how to hide from it. However, I understand what you are saying & will limit my comments & questions to getting the helicopters attention. <img src="/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

This kind of surviving is the fun & empowering stuff that can be carried over to all of the other scenarios. Hiking, Hunting, Katrina Aftermath, 9/11, etc. so I'm loving this website - a lot more fun that listening to some gun blab on about how much he hates Bush.
