I have to attend an RTCM SC-110 meeting in the Washington, DC area (Arlington, VA actually) on August 22. This will be the next of ongoing meetings where we are re-writing the standards for Personal Locator Beacons for the U.S. (and defacto, for the world) with tighter performance requirements that better reflect real world use of the devices. RTCM's efforts continue to lead the rest of the world and continue to push COSPAS-SARSAT in similar directions.

DC is apparently a popular destination at this time and airfares are quite high, even using SWA special deals. If anyone has some spare miles they'd be willing to donate to Equipped To Survive Foundation to help out, it would be greatly appreciated. Please email me at dritter at equipped dat org.

TIA,
