This weekend, I will be helping at a Girl Scout Encampment, which I helped to plan and set up. The theme is “survival”; admittedly it is not a hard-core survival weekend or course, but a combination of fun and information/skills. The girls, around 160 in number, will range in age from Brownies (approx. 6-7 years old) to Cadets (early teens), the Senior Girl Scouts will be manning the stations. We have 6 stations: a obstacle course, compass use (very simple-using a compass follow a set of clues to find the next check point), a first aid/PS Kit assembly/combined with Hug A Tree info, survival food (not hard core-some fun foods), shelter building (the girls get a trap, some wood poles and some rope)- they have to build something that will stand up to pails of water dumped on them and a Rescue Dog demo. I will let you all know how it worked out. Pete
