Has anyone had any experience with the thermo-lite emergency bivy sack? I'm tempted to get one for minimalist summer weekend overnight trips just because it packs down so small. My current summer sleeping gear packs down really small as it is, but this would be even smaller. Just curious if anyone has tried this thing out.

I'm always working on compacting my summer weekend backpacking gear. This holds the same fascination for me as always reworking my PSK to make it better or smaller or finding the perfect container for whatever. Yes, I could walk into the woods with just a knife, but that's over the normal fun/comfort line for weekend trips for me right now. I 'm trying to decide if the themo-lite bivy is also over that line for me. It's cheap, but I'd rather not throw away the $20 if someone has already tried one and found it not to be worth it.

I got one for my bug out kit, tested it by sleeping in it with just clothes on in 50 deg weather on top of a full length pad, was pretty warm and a bit sweaty. Certainly not as crinkly as the mylar ones and much more durable. Need to test it with a 3 season bag in really cold weather. Also have an AMK heatsheet blanket which is much smaller and goes in the EDC backpack, should test that sometime too.
