If the shotgun started out life with a barrel shorter than 16", it's an AOW and a $5 tax. If you take a shotgun and shorten the barrel to less than 16", it's a short barreled shotgun (SBS) and now a $200 tax.

confusing but just depends on when it was shortened, berfore or after the serial number was listed as "manufacturered "

But what's the penalty if you don't happen to have paid the $200 ATF tax (which I bet the Russians haven't?) I think the cosmonauts then go to the Yankee gulag...

Just seeing this topic reminds me of a story I heard from a friend of mine that works for NASA. While the US was spending millions of dollars for a pen that would write in space and over grease and upsidedown and ... (you get the idea), the russians came up with a much cheaper alternative... they used pencils.

What a concept...

FYI, unless NFA '34 has been ammended in the past two years, it's 18" for a shotgun barrel, 16" for rifle barrels.

It's me who misquoted the regs. I meant it humorously and, sadly, it isn't. I apologize. I think it's a pretty cool gun. I'd like to have it. And I think that it would be very useful. Too bad we can't have one here in the land of the free without paying through the nose.

That's okay. Just don't start calling magazines clips and we'll all get along just fine. LOL
