I just ordered a titanium self defense tool tonight, and I was told there was currently an $18 surcharge on the product because the price of ti is skyrocketing. Demands of the aerospace industry and various wars are increasing demand. Anyone else hear of this?

There are a variety of reasons for the price of titanium alloys going up.
We have not only heard of it, we are paying the prices as they climb.

It's not just titanium. Steel, copper, gold... I haven't checked, but maybe even aluminum. We have scrap yards here that are paying nicely for junk iron because they are getting a premium. War and outrageous growth overseas is triggering a lot of it.

One of the worrysome fact about that premium scrap is that a lot of it gets ships over seas. We send them metal and get back plastic forks, gewgaws and prefaded jeans.

Last time we sold a lot of scrap over seas, we got it back the hard way. <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />
