Good stuff. Doesn't tear worth a darn, so it needs to be cut.

Any thoughts on Gorilla Glue?

I was just about to respond to this thread... If the tape is anything like the glue, I'll pass. Most overhyped stuff I've ever used. It couldn't hold two pieces of wood (with jagged, but nice fit) for longer than a day and I followed instructions about dampness, curing, etc. I have wood glue that now holds it and does so perfectly...

I'll give the tape one shot... if it sucks, I probably won't be buying that brand of anything again.

I have used Gorilla Glue in a few different applications that I would not normally use "Elmers" brand, and the Gorilla Glue was Exceptional. It seems to hold rock solid on porous material mated to hard surfaces, such as attaching nylon strap to a plastic toy rifle (sling). I tried to pull the strap off and it was firmly attached. I cannot attest to wood because I have not tried it.

I'll give it a few more tries. I have some applications I can try with plastic and metal (and maybe some nylon mesh). But the wood-to-wood didn't do anywhere near as well as plain carpenter glue.

If it doesn't work, I can go back to epoxy. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

For those of you who are doubting this tape because Gorilla Glue hasn't worked for you, you might want to notice that in their FAQ section it states that the adhesive used on the tape is NOT Gorilla Glue, but just a different formula they created for tape. It sounds like it is a similar compound to what is used on duct tape, but as they said it is "twice as thick", and it seems like they improved the overall strength of backing so it is more durable, but harder to tear by hand.

I will check into it, as I love the Glue. I have used in on a few projects that I really needed a strong bond on, and it has performed very well. I had two pieces of wood that I could not break apart even when hitting against the side of my table saw. Very strong stuff. The only bummer is the foaming of the glue, you gotta keep cleaning it as it dries or you will have a mess. After the glue and foam harden, the foam can be cut away with a knife and then sanded down if needed.

Thanks for the link.

The tape is stronger than 3M duct tape in my completely non-scientific testing - it's also considerably thicker. It's fairly easy to tear, just not as easy as regular duct tape.

It's also about $10/roll, and only available in black (if that is important to you).
