Hope this is in order posting this, but thought some of you might be interested in this book I've recently had published..
Dances With Marmots - A Pacific Crest Trail Adventure

Welcome aboard! I hope that the book has a detailed gear section for this group. <img src="/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

Thanks for the welcomes. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Yes, I included a gear list at the end of the book as it always seems to be of interest.
As always I try to keep weight down but don't compromise safety. Water and food is usually always the variable.
The High Sierra sector was the 'heaviest' as I was going into unfamiliar territory and carrying additional weight with ice axe (needed) and crampons. (not really needed)
There was also a load of extra food to cover the possibility of slow or halted progress due to snowfalls, which can be a bit unpredictable.
In retrospect, there's not much I would drop from the list - maybe an item of clothing and the crampons.

There was also a Good National Geographic article (and Cover Feature) on the Pacific Coast Trail, -as some here may remember. From 1971 or thereabouts. Or perhaps 1975. (I regret that I do not readily know of the specific issue.). [color:"black"] TheScorpion
