I thought ya'all might find interest in this. It's an 'emergency cell phone charger' that uses 3 standard AAA batteries. It might be nice to keep one in the car for the wife's cell phone, just in case. It can be found at 'http://www.futaiusa.com/CellRescue_page.htm'.

And for the times when you need a full emergency capability, Motorola is launching a wind-up charger:

http://abcnews.go.com/sections/scitech/TechTV/techtv_freecharge011205.html

I haven't seen one of these 'in the flesh' yet.

How about this ?
Virgin MObile(Sir Richard Branson's baby) has launched a universal cell phone charger which runs on Virgin's carbonated drinks (what else? I suppose coke will work too...). 2 250ml bottles will give it a 10min charge i think.
I'm not sure how it works, but its like a wet cell. 2 diff electrodes in the fizzy drinks gives charge to zap the phone batteries. And you can drink the drinks after you charge the phone!

Here is a solor model I own that will recharge your phone and other batteries. Although not quickly and, of course, only in sunlight.

http://store.yahoo.com/sundancesolar/batpowpac.html

The nice thing is... you can plug your cigarette lighter adapter directly into it! No need to worry about plug size. Although it does come complete w/ an array of plugs.
