An actual online store for Magfires! Right here in the USA - no insane shipping costs!

Without the sales I made to this group, I don't think I would have done it.

But the first wave of sales went pretty well (I sold out of all my stock quick enough) and then the referrals started coming through - well it was enough interest to make me invest a little time and money into building out the web site and some inventory and getting the e-commerce side of things worked out a bit.

So, I got the site built, got the bits and pieces up and running, and now I need some content!

If you bought a Magfire from me, and you have a moment to take a picture of yourself using it somewhere, I'd love to put it on the MagfireUSA.com site.

I'm also putting some short videos on the site as I get to them, showing how to use the Magfire to light a fire, tinder tests, lighting a fire in the rain and so forth. My wife and I are working on them and those will be added to the site in the next few weeks.

So - help me quit my day job - tell people to buy Magfires - and lots of them - at www.magfireusa.com - my kids need shoes! the house payments are due! Leatherman has a new tools coming out! Christmas is coming!

I bought a few, mostly on your recommendation. I don't expect to be disappointed.

But I would like to see something that talks about the actual differences between these and "regular" fire steels. Something about maybe the difference in alloys, their performance, etc.

I haven't received mine yet (probably waiting for me at home), so I don't have any stories yet.

Good luck on the store!

Martin, nice website. My budget for the next couple of months for survival stuff is shot but I've bookmarked you for December.

Great point about the differences. I'll work on that copy now.

I have a quick question if I may ask...

If I order a Magfire Pro now, would it be part of the current shipment that you have coming in this month, or a later shipment?

Thanks!

Great initiative Martin, congratulations....
Also I would recommend that some extra explanation between the pro and regular model, beside the # of strikes...ie is there any difference in dimensions, weight, etc?
Saludos
PS: I will place my order during the weekend. I was looking for one of this a log time ago.

Some pictures of the product would be nice.

Also. I read about "self ignition" of magnesium/firesteel such as Doan's on your site. Link? IIRC only the powder or shavings are flammable in a typical day to day setting. Also, I know of no restrictions on carrying or shipping them.

Please find attached a closeup of the standard Magfire. as well as a comparison shot of a Magfire and a Magfire after a couple of hundred scrapes (on left) with a US quarter and a very old BSA Hotspark (on right) included for scale.

Please note as well that the scraper attached to the used Magfire depicts the modification that I've discussed in another thread: the application of a belt sander to create a sharper and more useful and durable edge.

I hope to have more images and a detailed review after this weekend if my vacation time request is granted.

For starters the The Doors didn't write a song about them

I cant comment on Light My Fire because I havent seen them. However my couple of Magfires are very good. With my small collection of firesteels (I know, I need to get a life) I would be hard pressed to say any of my others are equal to them.
The only reason I dont EDC one on my keyring is that I have a physically smaller sized firesteel on the keys. My keyring is way too big as it is.
