Seth, Every firearm is unique in spite of computer driven machining and tolerances. Two identical firearms with consecutive serial #s can, and will have completely different performances with the same lot of ammunition. You need to experiment with many different brands to find a few that work. Meanwhile, your firearm is breaking in and resolving any potential malfunctions. Not all ammunition is created equally. Look at .22s under a magnifying glass. The cheaper lots will have noticeable deformities in the cast bullet. These are a disaster for function and accuracy. Both of these are critical in your AR7 and for the small cartridge. The .22 forte' is accuracy, lightweight/recoil and potential huge ammo supply. You need not buy Olympic Games match loads, but that bargain brick from the discount store is equally expensive. The .22 is an externally lubricated bullet and doesn't take kindly to a handfull tossed in a pocket with lint, change, peppermints etc. Signalling with a firearm is nearly useless. Most people will just assume your somebody out-shooting!!!!! Get a good whistle and a weatherproof ammo container.
