I was searching around www.campmor.com and found the "First Need Deluxe Direct Connect Purification Device," Item Number: 81249. Price: $83.99. This water purifier operates without iodine, so there are no chemical issues to deal with.<br><br>At http://www.generalecology.com/firstneedchoiceaward.html, I found this purifier apparently received an award of sorts. So I ambled on over here to see if you fine folks had had any experience with this particular water purifier.<br><br>Opinions, anyone?

Purchased one when I went to Africa for work, but never needed it. Drank bottled water instead. The chemistry technicians on the drilling rigs need pure clean water for their tests. They all seem to use the MSR Water Works II when needed.

I have used one for about 8-10 years (an older model, but works the same), on more backpacking trips than I can count. It works fine, just a little hard to pump compaired to some other brands, but that might just be because it purifies while the others just filter. I highly recommend them...
