Has anyone used Maxima pliers plus? Im considering buying one 2nd hand and would like to hear feedback from anyone who has used it. Leatherman multi tools are just too expensive...

Ken,
Go ahead and save your money up for a quality piece of gear. Search the web as well. You can find some great deals out there.
Good luck,
Garrett

I agree.... buying inferior equipment costs more in the long run. I have sold plenty of barely used Leatherman and SOG tools that were in great condition for around $25. I even have a couple that I'm probably going to put on Ebay very soon so I have been looking at what's out there. I am seeing plenty of quality multi-tools available on Ebay for half what the stores charge.

Yes, I've seen them too. They even come in sets of 3... Unfortunately I'm in Singapore and don't own a credit card. Does anyone know where I can get cheap tools here?
Yep that certainly does make things more difficult for you. I know of at least one other board member that is in Singapore. Perhaps he can be of assistance once he sees your thread.

Ken, If you want a good multi-tool, get the swiss-tool. I know the dealer and can get you a good price for it. Forget about the leathermans. They are just way too expensive and not worth the price here. The new leatherman has even increased the prices of the leatherman's here!!
I googled the revised name and found I have that tool or a very similar with a different brand name. It's rather heavy and not the same quality as a leatherman or other name brand multi-tool. I did like it though and kept it in the glove box of my P/U for odd jobs, cutting rope for tie downs, minor repairs, etc. It would probably hold up for 1-2 days of emergency use.
