I searched through the Bic website trying to find a specific type of lighter. I'm trying to find a lighter that has a little button under the red fuel button that prevents the fuel button from being accidentally pressed.

Does anyone know where to find a lighter like the one I discribed?

Thanks

I believe the old style safeties were discontinued for the current style. The current style can be effectively "deactivated" by placing a 4" cable tie under the fuel actuator and around the lighter, like so ...

If you leave the cable tie slightly loose, it can be thumbed off and replaced after use ...

They can't be used for throwing sparks when empty, but pretty much all of the piezo electric disposables I've used (bic, scripto, cricket - check walgreens) had a decent safety switch.

Ronson makes a lighter set (I forget the name) that includes a standard butane disposable lighter that fits into a metal shell with a zippo-type flip top that prevents it from being activated in the pocket.

I keep a bic in this plastic tube thing I found with some prepared tinderballs. Maybe a film can would fit a bic mini?

But like the other guys said, a zip tie is pretty foolproof.

Found what I was looking for. It's a brand of lighter called Classic Gold. Found them at the dollar store. <img src="/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Sgt Mike: I sent you a message asking about your match case, but dang. I can't resist asking about that sharpened allen wrench-looking thing at the bottom of the photo. Is it a home-made poking and prying tool? Is the short end shaped like a screwdriver blade, or left as a wrench? Is that shrink tubing around it? Too many questions and too little time.
