Summer and fall mean wildfire here and blackouts when wind is high. I am acquiring solar panels and power banks so that we will have lights and phones working. We do minimal cooking and exercise fridge discipline when the juice is no longer flowing..

What are these tornadoes of which you speak??

we have good Doppler radar coverage with local TV station that reflect real time GPS locations... as well as NWS at Ruskin, just south of Tampa... I have a pretty good Reecom weather alert radio

we get some spun off the rear edge of cold fronts and from hurricane feeder bands, but anything bigger than an EF1 is pretty rare

as a 60 year resident of the Florida Gulf coast, most of my hurricane preps are covered... I replace stored water and gasoline at the first of hurricane season

Being in the middle of the 'Mid-West' Iowa is prone to having these storm events. We've got the flashlights tested and other things in place in case of severe storms.

I completed the NWS Storm Spotting course again this year and am in line with the local Storm Spotters / Ham group that watch for severe weather. I think we're set... One additional item:
