Youngest Offspring rather officiously informed me that I had enough knives, flashlights, and firearms, and I needed something else on my list. I suggested ammo.

Giving: This year I told my wife - who was seriously struggling with her work conditions - that she could retire early.

Getting: Early next year my wife is letting me retire.

Beautiful northern Wisconsin, here we come!!!

7+ acres between a chain-of-lakes and a lovely small lake, recently built house, his & her pole barns. We are very lucky!

My daughter was asking me what I wanted for Xmas, and I suggested a small keychain knife...Mrs. Hikermor sighed, saying, "it was either that or another flashlight."

I had no idea I was so predictable....

Giving - Flashlights for aunt, uncle & 1 cousin. Amazon for the other cousin

Getting - 2 pair of 5.11 Stryke pants & cash: if it's inexpensive enough to put on a list, I've already got it. This way I can combine several and get something big.

As the worlds sofest uncle, I'm strenously against smacking children, but in this case something like a parenting leson with a red hot chain saw is called for!!

Seriously; that is a child that is not getting enough outdoor time and gear of their own. Or being told they already have some computer games or dolls so clearly they don't need anymore....

I would say instead that Youngest Offspring has reached an age where it’s funny to poke at me. This kid always enjoys camping and hiking and is an avid shooter.

Glad to hear he's being raised right. Making fun of parents is one of the perks of childhood. But you get your revenge when he's a teenager and you can embarrass him so much, he'll wish he was wearing a bucket over his head....
