Just an observation. . Survival magazines. .Lots on the rack these days at Barnes and nobles. Always over priced, and packed with attractive attention getting pictures, and articles designed and advertised to make you think you can't live without them. . .


Anyhow, the current American Survival guide Aug of 2016 has a very good article by John McCann regarding the use of such mirrors. My only criticism, He does not mention the number of bogus retro reflective aiming device.

If you don't mind traditional aiming (putting your hand in front of the mirror to aim with), then the platters out of old computer harddrives make excellent mirrors. These are polished beautifully, and are very tough. They reflect a LOT of light! First time I tested one reflecting the sun onto the side of my house, I thought I was going to ignite the siding.

I put a signal mirror in my kit next to a fresnel (magnifying) lens I don;t expect to ever use either, but they are both so small, cheap and light...
