Hello, all.

This is my first post here but I have been a regular reader since I found this site after Katrina hit. The experienced posts make ETS a great resource and I thank you all.

I saw this product, the Flapot, and thought it could possibly be a great item for Get Home Bags or another smallish kit where a regular pot didn't really fit. It's a flat piece of stainless steel that folds into a "pot."

Add some foil and you have a lid.

The details say it can be folded into a pot and back about 30 times.

Amazon lists it for $30.

Amazon link: Flapot

I have no relationship to the manufacturer and don't own one, yet. Please pardon me if this information has been posted previously. I've never seen it.

Hi,
what kind of kit/bag
has enough room for a ~10 x 13 x 1 inch metal sheet,
but not a "regular" pot?

Ok, it looks like smallish was the wrong word choice. I hadn't seen the dimensions and it didn't seem like an inch thick in the pictures I saw or in the descriptions I read that said it folds "completely flat." The devil is in the details. But now we all know why I just read here. blush

Perhaps they could respond to consumer request for a smaller one.

There's all kinds of interesting kits out there in youtube land and there are many threads here about creative means of boiling water. Someone might find it an interesting choice or maybe it could be a spark for another idea.

wink I rounded up Size:26cm*32cm*1cm grin

I did a search and found this interesting thing,
uses thick cold-rated hvac foil tape
to reinforce non-stick aluminum foil,
seems to last more than one
boil/fry/unfold/clean/fold cycle
kfXKqG9mHYc Reusable folding foil Cook Pot WATER TIGHT - Jay West

So, for about $13
(~$10 foil tape lowes/home depot, ~$3 foil)
you could probably make 13 of these smile
they hold 2-4 cups at least ...
otoh a large aluminum roasting pan can be had $1.09

It's 3 mm folded (1/8"). Not 1". and that's just because of 4 protruding ribs, the rest is prob. less than 1 mm. 1.5 liter is good for a solo bag. Sure not for an ordinary camping.

I like the creativity and innovation, but decided to go with metal water bottles and smaller cooking pots...
