So now I've found a good source for solid color paracord thanks to another thread here. I didn't want to hi-jack that thread so I thought I'd pose my question here. In general, what color offers the highest or best visibility? I am leaning towards neon yellow or neon orange, but my son also likes red. Is there a lot of difference in visibility between these colors? Or will one color be more visible than another?

That is an interesting question. I think back about how hard it was to find a screaming yellow tennis ball in the bushes when I was a kid. I would lean towards size making the difference versus a particular neon/bright color. Pick a screaming color you like and run with it.

My $.02.

My thoughts exactly, but I am just wondering if one color in general "screams" louder than another, or if that is something that varies per person (i.e. bob thinks red looks brighter, mark thinks orange looks brighter, but john thinks yellow looks brighter).

The eye is most sensitive to yellow-green. Green is out unless maybe you're strictly a desert hiker, so maybe yellow would be good for you. Unless you hike in wheatfields... Orange then, not lot of orange ground stuff. Yeah yeah, you hike in orange groves or the pumpkin patch.

The eye is not good with red, especially as the light dims (think preserving night vision by using red light).

I've seen high visibility handles in orange, yellow and hot pink. Dunno, might have to do with background and lighting as to which would be best.

I've heard that red was selected by Victorinox for SAKs because it stood out in the snow. I guess it depends on your environment but bright orange seems to be less frequently found in nature, unless you're in an orange grove. ;-)

^ Lol, I thought of that. But really, what color doesn't stand out against snow? Yeah, I know which one. Drop your Victorinox in decent snow and get out your orange shovel to find it.

I would go for orange but neon blue is also rarely seen in nature
