Ha ha. Could I ask which RAF base your course was at?

(Joint School of Photographic Interpretation) RAF Wyton (pronounced "Witten") - IIRC, it was one BritRail stop south of Peterborough on the Peterborough-London line, if that helps.

My favourite memory of that course - there was a USAF base within bicycling distance (although it was officially designated as an RAF Base, it was leased by the USAF) and, as Canadians, we were granted access to the PX there. (This was in the days when we were friends ) There were three of us Canucks on the course, and - I suppose to prevent us from corrupting their young soldiers - we were housed in one of the Base Married Quarters.

A British Army sergeant on our course stopped by to visit and we offered him a beer. He was a bit startled, and informed us that alcohol was not permitted in single quarters (which, technically, we were in). My buddy threw open the fridge door, revealing equal parts Coors and Budweiser, and said "You'd better help us get rid of this, then." He did.

Sorry, I thought you were referring to this -

>>*Note: I will officially dispel the current circulating rumor that the Canadians helped advise the Marine Corps on the design of MARPAT. At no point in time in any shape, form or fashion did we consult, solicit or even ask a modest opinion from the Canadians. The only thing that MARPAT lends its origin to from the Canadians is a small scrap of cloth that compelled us to try out the idea and the -PAT descriptor.

I wasn't trying to pick a fight (certainly not with an ex-Marine, LOL) - anyone from a country that sent its soldiers to fight in a desert wearing jungle camo has no right to point the finger

No blood... No foul.

Always question a Marine if he says he's invented anything that doesn't have to do with destruction!
