Those are a Marine Corps exclusive BDU. The pattern is called MARPAT and is copyrighted by the Marines

The USMC has a green version and a tan/brown version. They are both being issued now and I've seen some being worn in Iraq. There is a small USMC EGA (Eagle, Globe & Anchor) printed on the material every 13 inches. I believe the
EGA is also on the new USMC boots.

And strangely enough, the pattern is closely patterned after the camouflage pattern being used by the Canadian military, which is called CADPAT and is also copyrighted!

Can you say, "Bandwagon jumper?" woo! woo!

Well, after the Canadian army was sent to Afghanistan wearing GREEN camouflage (and had to resort to painting their uniforms brown), Uncle Zhon had to do something to save face. Hence the order to come up with a new type of camo that would be so revolutionary, even the US Marines would want to copy it.

Funny, how sometimes the best thing that can happen to the military is a politician who desperately needs to save face ...

As a recently retired Marine (43 days ago), I have a set of MarPats and can tell you that they are impressive when it comes to concealment. The Corps changed cammie uniforms 7 times during my career and the 7th time was a charm. The following link should help dispell any rumors about who did what.

Well, never in my wildest dreams did I expect a US Marine to give someone else credit for being first

But the fact remains that, according to this guy's first-person account, the US Marines didn't start designing their MARPAT camo until 2 years after we Canucks had already field-tested (and, indeed, begun issuing) our CADPAT.

When I was attending a course at an RAF base in the UK, one of our instructors - a British army captain - told the story of how he attended an airshow in the USA, where one of the aircraft being demonstrated was an AV-8B Harrier. A young American officer (to be fair, I don't know if it was a Marine or not) turned to him and said "Bet you Brits wish you could invent something like that."

I assume I linked you to the wrong article, since the Marine admits they took the design and the -Pat ideas from the CadPat. They basically changed the colors to suit our terrain and little more. The digital pattern is what makes the -Pat uniform stealthy and that is what they "took/ripped-off" from Canada. Sorry, you'll have to find your argument elsewhere.
