Since others have posted theirs.

We took vacation from work Friday and left that morning for Mohican State Park in Ohio, about an hour north from us.
We started with a hike on the Lyons Falls Trail, first real hike for my 3 and 5 year old's.

The trail starts to the left of the covered bridge, and yes my daughter had to wear a dress smile

Posed under the big rock

And on top

The hilly trail

The interesting rocks

Not much water

Enough to play in though

Whole family on thew camera timer

That little falls runs into a bigger creek

We stayed all night at the lodge and then went over to Amish Country

Looks like an awesome weekend, Eugene! Great idea to mix it up for the kids. You'll keep their interest better and everyone will have more fun. Of course how could they not with water, trains, rocks and horses!

Thanks for sharing!

The forum appears to have a limit on the number of pictures per post so I had to break it up and got myself out of order.
Anyway back to Friday July 1
Cookout in the one of the picnic areas

Then check in at the lodge and into the kids pool

and had dinner in their big dining room

Jumping back to Sat the 2nd we stopped by Ye Olde Mill where they make Velvet Ice Cream

That part was closed for the day so we just ate at the small cafe and admired the restored water wheel from the original mill.

A couple weeks ago we had visited my grandparents in WV and stopped by Cabelas. My son keeps seeing people fishing at Alum Creek State park which is closer to us so we go more often and he wanted to go fishing. Now neither I or my wife have been since we were still dating but hadn't been since. We bought a pair of kids poles and signed up for our fishing license online and took the kids out. I helped my son reel in his first of three, the second he did all by himself.

So on Sunday the third we went fishing again and it seems the batman pole of his must be lucky because I caught the only fish that day

Daughter isn't quite as interested

Great pics. Your kids will benefit greatly from experiences like this!

What was with those grooves in the rocks?

Glad you got to spend time out with your family. That's always a win. Nice pictures too.

I haven't figured out the grooves in the rocks, they are nice and rounded like a wheel, but I can't think of why anyone would have a wagon wheel halfway up the mountain like that. There is an old trail map in the lodge

With some history

I've setup a map of our travels
