the aluminum foil is for the switch, when tightened (on), the metal ring around the LED that connects to the + terminal isnt hitting the body of the flashlight, which turns it on.

NOT EXACTLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just received some of these that we ordered. Cheap POS knock-off is as polite as I can be.

Let me the very clear, these are not eGear PICO Lites. The quality doesn't even come close. They are larger, crudely finished, the o-ring doesn't seal, and in two examples we got out of four, it was damaged, not that it matters, the batteries cannot be replaced in their holder, the keyring attachment is crap, and the list goes on.

EDIT: On further examination, we figured out you can change the batteries in the holder, just not as obvious.

I'm sorry to hear that Doug, I just posted today in another thread about running one of my original pico lights through the washing machine yesterday and it worked like a charm afterwards. Hope you can get it worked out as I love those little lights for kits and key chains.

THANK YOU!!! I hate it when there are identical knock offs for a product i want.Espicially from a credible organization like BSA.Not being able to order from the internet (eliminating debt, eliminating credit cards, recovery from unemployment)really SUCKS.Trying to get good survival gear old school style (purchasing from a store) is is becoming tedious. The mark up compared to internet prices is insane or you get cheap knock offs claiming to be the real thing.Military surplus stores are bad for this.If it is labeled as G.I."styled",it is usually made in China or Korea. This junk is only suitable for mall ninja's.OK rant off...
Thank you very much Mr. Ritter for getting me strait...
