Everyone makes personal choices and I respect yours. However, my experience is different. My dog has a keen protective drive. He lets me know if trouble is in the vicinity long before I can see it. He also provides an additional deterrent in the urban environment. Why mess with a 90 lb. GSD with big teeth if there are easier pickins elsewhere. I'll gladly haul around a few pounds of dog food in trade for that any day of the week.

Craig.

Got to agree here. Two trained GSD's make for one heck of a deterrent. Just ask the last fellows hat got into the house having ignored the barking.

Patrol car ride to the local jail's medical facility and then lock up.

What is really odd is we have the same breed dogs and the same first name.

Its even more odd if I can assume looking at your avatar that you are a retired LEO too.

Not retired, but 8 years service.

My frustration tolerance level had been exceeded, and Uncle Sam wanted 8 more years to change my MOS from 95B20B4 (95B=Military Police 20=E5 B4=Sniper) to 95D20 (95D= MP K9 Handler).

Also time as a reserve deputy.

The avatar is out of respect for the loss of OBG.

for me, my sanity check is two wheels. Be it Mountain Biking in the woods or crusing along the road in one of my motorcycles. The wind in my face the freedom of zipping along just makes me feel better.

In the winter.. I just read these forums and work on my kits.. When in doubt - reorginize!!
