Well, I think the knife has some perfectly practical applications. And it's lightweight with a number of carry options.

If you don't like it, don't buy it.

Just keep in mind that form should follow function and buy on the merits of the product instead of hype, and there is a lot of hype involved in marketing these products.

Most of these knives are actually sold as luxury or prestige items instead of simply just quality grade tools meant to be used, abused and even lost sometimes.

Some of the comments you guys are making are pretty rich though.

Paris and I have been working on the PARIS HILTON PLB, or Paris Locater Beacon.The prototype is in pink, with a secure grip of pave' diamonds ( dual use as a knife sharpener has not been investigated.). Unlike most standard PLBs, our effort shows you the location of Paris 24/7. Like she says 'if everyone knows where I am, then they automaticaly should know their place,like that old guy running for some office.'

A skeleton handle makes for a lightweight neck knife. I have become a neck knife carrier and love being able to carry a fixed blade knife for EDC. I normally carry a CRKT Ryan Plan B and sometimes a Smith & Wesson 990 model with a skeleton handle. The new RAT knife looks like a nice neck knife.

A survival video eh? "Surviving Paris"? Sounds like a doctor visit sequel to "A Night in Paris". Every survival guru should know to carry and proper use for a profilactic Chris.

Hope those shots don't hurt too much. As with geocaching, some would be treasures are better left where they lay. It's one thing to know where it is, another altogether to be able and/or willing to go after it. To quote some good advice from Pete on this one, "Do not seek the treasure!!!"

Neck carry is one of the oldest means.There is utterly no reason to BURDEN oneselve with an inferior system unless, ie it is going into a space critical PSK. We seem determined to reinvent the knife. If some knifemakers marketed tyres traffic fatalities would drop dramatically.

Maybe this knife will prove useful, maybe not but I'm always happy to see new options in the gear marketplace. Separating the wheat from the chaff is part of the fun. RAT Cutlery is known for making some good gear.

What I don't like, though, is the Robert Young Pelton marketing angle. RYP has a reputation for unbridled opportunism and some downright lying, especially concerning private military contractors (PMCs) in the Middle East. Don't make the mistake of taking everything he says at face value.

Kinda reminds me of the masonry business, how many different versions of pre-cast or tooled construction units are being generated, and yet I see chimneys, retaining walls, even houses built from stones gathered from the field.

I suppose when they finally develop the lightsaber style blades, then we will finally have the ultimate knife. Never needs sharpening, cuts through anything, adjustable length, width, and can also be used to make fire or signal a rescue! They won't be able to top that one for a long time I bet.
