I think I like it. Might not be perfect, but might be better than before...

Ha ha, you're quick ;-)

Was trying to trace down a DB error someone reported earlier and realized Doug had forwarded me the new software notice weeks ago.

Enjoy, and as always, let me know if there are any issues as a result.

The DB error came from me. I think it was a time out type of thing. Traffic may have been high at the time. Only lasted 45 seconds or so.

Agreed, MySQL reported some aborted searches, but rather strange none the less. Server wasn't under any load at the time either.

Just a bad case of the hiccups is what we used to tell folks in the telecom biz.

Something strange happened to me in ETS a week or more ago. I always wondered why, when in the forum view, I couldn;t just hold my mouse over a thread and take a "peek" at part of the first post. Then, a week or so ago, it just happened. I was able to do it. THen, it stopped and that was the last time I could peek into threads.

I wonder what's wrong. (?)

By default, topic tooltips used to be permitted and were a new feature of the 7.x software. I was requested to remove it from the template by many of the users for various reasons (annoying, browser compatibility, etc.).

It's now a board-wide configuration where the admin can determine the number of characters to preview, however it's presently disabled for the reasons mentioned above. I have a feeling someone may have been experimenting at the time you saw the pop-ups.

Ok. Thanks for the explanation, Rick. What about a way to see which threads you've replied to or participated in? In some forums, there's an arrow through the icon or something similar. Can you do that?

I'm pretty certain that the board will track unread vs. read over a period of time. You can also see within your personal profile every post you've added. However, I've yet to see them come together as it's "alot" of data to track for 160,000+ posts and 2600+ members. That being said, I'll check into it.

For reference, I don't write the software, just manage the server which it runs on. The moderators manage the day-to-day settings. It's a pretty stock configuration, actually.
