How do these compare to wire saws designed for cutting wood?

BTW, a similar item appeared in my recent Sportsmans Guide catalog last week (www.sportsmansguide.com):

=================================================
Zip-Saw™ splits big game pelvic bones F-A-S-T!
Pocket-sized, labor-saving tool...is armed with a 191/4" long, spiral-wound blade with raised ridges. It zips thru pelvic bones in about 4 to 5 seconds. Allows you to safely remove entrails without puncturing vitals and contaminating the meat. Weighs 11/2 ozs. Comes in a Woodland Camo nylon pouch that's 33/4x53/4"l. Order ONLIN E Today!

JX1D - 12289 - Zip-Saw™ $14.97
JX1D - 12288 - 2-pk. of Replacement Blades $9.97
=============================================

Besides the pouch, the saw has two metal handles (approx. 3.5 inches) with metal spring rings to attach to the bades. The pack of two replacement blades seems more economical, smaller & lighter and would work with split rings as you suggested.

Willie Vannerson
McHenry, IL

VERY WELL! Remember that bone and wood are two dense,and moist ( when fresh) structures. The attraction here is the bulk price if you want to outfit your troop. I haven't actually ordered any myself, but I talked to a familiar salesman at Major Surplus. He says they are excellent. Remember too, that large bones contain rich marrow. extraction via cutting is better than smashing away with large rocks.
