My point is, how much weight and bulk are you adding for what level of protection, and at what point does it just make more sense to carry 2+ heat sheets? Just something to consider. =)

Well, everyone is different, but the few ounces of weight added is no big deal for me. And I am hoping that the container will fit tightly enough to not increase bulk enough to say so.

Right now, I am making a kit with a empty plastic 16oz. peanut butter jar that my heatsheet bivy fits into perfectly.

I had a bad experience this weekend with the container that comes with the heat sheet. The package got turned in such a fashion that the sharp corner was pushing against the fabric of my backpack, and the corner poked a hole through the fabric of the pack. frown I threw the container that comes with the heat sheet in the trash the second I got home. I think this is a very salient thread!

+1 vote for the Lock 'n' Lock containers.

The 1.2L size (square footprint) will perfectly fit a Heat Sheet and you have plenty of room left over for other survival stuff. It's pretty bulky, but for sitting in a vehicle kit, no big deal. Plus you get a nice water resistant seal to keep everything dry.

Runs about $3-4 at Wal-Mart, near the Tupperware and such.

You may not believe this but I just woke up from a dream where I was removing my AMK heatsheet from an unused water bottle.
I have to stop visiting this site, it's invaded my subconscious.
But in keeping with the multi use school of thought, perhaps a cheap bike bottle, wide mouth, maybe an old Nalgene you have laying around.

In my dream, it was a camelback bottle.

Assuming the Heatsheet is to be used in a emergency situation, I don't really understand why you would really need to find the perfect container for it. Mine came in a sealed vinyl pouch which sounds adequate enough?

I can easily imagine myself tossing the Heatsheet out after use, or if it's still usable I'd try folding it back and just store it in a sandwich size Ziploc and put a rubber band around it.

My 2 cents. smile

I know the origional post requested a hard plastic case, but...

Staples has the Caselogic compact harddrive cases on sale this week for $10. They normally go $15-20 depending on where you shop. They will hold the heatsheet and then some- Airballrad uses one to carry a Heatsheet, PSP and Pocket Medic along with a few other tiny toys IIRC.

Thanks for the ideas guys. Right now I am toying with a kit with the heatsheet bivy as the focal point. I am using a empty plastic 16.oz peanut butter jar as the container. The jar works good as a water bottle too!
